⭐️ In Year Two, we refreshed our imaginative role play area this month and began by creating a children’s bedroom area. When we talked to the children, and got their ideas, they told us that they would like a kitchen included too, so that they could make supper, snacks and breakfast!
🥣 We quickly recognised that the children were really interested in two particular items: hot chocolate and breakfast cereal! Our role in their play became simple - having recognised the children’s interests, we set up a stimulus, and then stood back, letting the children lead their learning.
🤩 Our invitation to play was one which the children fully embraced! They explored, investigated, and were creative and imaginative! There was fun and laughter, learning and cooperation, and the development of so many skills in so many areas. All from a box of Coco Pops and a bag of marshmallows!
