Learning with the living world
Now, more than ever, what young children need is everyday nature - that is, plenty of time having real and direct, small-scale experiences of and interactions with the living world around them. Our precious little pupils need a multi-sensory environment, and as gardening speaks to all the senses, it is such a powerful tool for playing and learning.
Growing is a remarkably powerful theme for young children, with a strong emotional element, masses of learning in every aspect of the curriculum, combined with lots of activity, moving and doing! Digging, planting, nurturing and enjoying reaches every part of children’s health and wellbeing.
Let’s take a look into Year Two’s work as they garden and grow together 🥰.
