November in Pre-School

30th Nov 2020

This month we have been learning about People Who Help Us. Our children enjoyed caring for one another in our hospital role play area, putting out ‘fires’ outdoors and becoming familiar with different emergency services and vehicles through play, stories, songs and crafts.

We then explored the topic Night and Day. Our children enjoyed preparing the babies for bed by bathing them, brushing their teeth and putting them to bed with a bedtime story. We also learned about different nocturnal animals through stories and craft activities and our children loved investigating light and dark using torches and creating shadows inside our ‘bat cave’. We finished our week with a Friday ‘bedtime’ treat of hot chocolate, freshly baked oatmeal and raisin cookies and a bedtime story.

We focused on space for the final week of November. The children created some fantastic aliens using play dough, enjoyed using our telescope to look for stars, investigated floating and sinking with round objects at the water tray and created their own junk art rockets and robots at our space station.
