Too good not to share …

20th Jan 2022

✅ Active learning in full flow this morning in Year Two.

👍🏻 Our children have activities waiting for them to get stuck in with and explore as soon as they arrive into class.

🔤 In phonics, last week we introduced the sound, ‘oo’. The linked Read Write Inc. phrase is, ‘poo at the zoo’ and we also heard a really funny story about poo at the zoo! Over a week later, just look at what this little lad chose to spell with the magnetic letters - child-led and completely independent spelling too!

🔤 Also, in phonics, we’re using dots and dashes, to show which letters make the sounds. We’ve been learning about special friends too. Speaking of special friends, do you notice the group of children working collaboratively on a phonics game? Isn’t it great to see!

➕➖ We’ve been doing some work in adding and taking away over recent weeks. You’ll see the two children who chose the numeracy games, practising their + and -, as they played. What’s really impressive is how they self-checked their work. The little lady can be seen using her fingers to calculate, and the little lad, although we didn’t capture the photo at the time, lifted the sum card to double-check his answers before moving on.

➕➖ Speaking of numeracy, the class teacher noticed that some children were ready for a little challenge in this area, so that’s what was provided! Using the base ten material, and number cards, the little chap went off and did this all by himself!

⭐️ Just goes to show how important and amazing active learning is!
