πŸŒ¨οΈβ„οΈ Year 1 Have Had a Wonderful Wintery January! β„οΈπŸŒ¨οΈ

4th Feb 2026

Year 1 have had an exciting and busy January as they explored their Winter topic! We started the month by making our very own melted snowman treats using biscuits and marshmallows — a delicious way to kick off our learning! β›„πŸͺ

The children have been investigating winter weather and learning about the different types of clothes we wear to keep warm. Through hands-on play and plenty of exploring, they have also been discovering the science behind melting and freezing, comparing solids and liquids, and making observations during their investigations. πŸ”β„οΈ

Our story focus has included winter tales along with favourites such as The Gruffalo and Stick Man. The role‑play area became the Gruffalo’s forest, where children enjoyed dressing up, retelling the story, acting out their favourite scenes, and adding their own creative twists. 🌲🐾

During our Stick Man learning, we went on a special stick walk to collect natural materials. The children loved using sticks, leaves, and other natural treasures to create their very own stick people inspired by the story! 🌿

This month, Year 1 have also enjoyed their visits to the computer suite. They have been practising how to control a mouse by playing games, and even creating their own snowflake drawings on the computers. πŸ–±οΈπŸ’»β„οΈ

To end the topic on a sweet note, the children made chocolate Stick Men and they enjoyed eating them just as much as making them! πŸ«πŸ˜„

What a fantastic month of creativity, exploration, and winter magic — well done, Year 1! 🌟
