Life at Nursery

A TYPICAL DAY IN NURSERY

Nursery begins at 8.45am when your child is personally greeted by the Nursery staff and having been dropped off by a resonspible adult they engage in a range of planned independent learning experiences.

These learning experiences range from free play activities, buffet snack, outdoor learning activities, music, rhyme, circle time and storytime.

The day is flexible and adaptable to individual children's needs, circumstances and experiences.  Children are given time to make choices and to settle and develop into self-exploring independent learners.

These experieces are enriched on many occassions throughout the nursery year by outings and visitors to the Nursery, many of which are displayed on our 'Gallery' section.

CONTACTS WITH PARENTS

The Nursery operates an 'Interactive Open Door' policy where staff welcome parents in a supportive environment, where the expression of views, thoughts and opinions is appreciated and valued.

Miss Curry produces a monthly newsletter which is an important link in maintaining a home school link.  The Nursery News informs parents about themes, forthcoming events and celebrates achievements.  It is always available for your perusal in the Nursery cloakroom.

There are many ways that you can become involved in your child's Nursery year:

  • Formal Parent/Teacher meetings
  • A written report on your child's progress
  • Organising and supporting fundraising events
  • Collecting materials for use by children
  • Sharing a special interest, hobby or skill with the class
  • Participating in ordinary, daily Nursery activies
  • Helping out on special occassions
  • Attending special events
  • Activities to extend learning at home
