๐ข Year 4 Become Titanic Engineers! โ๏ธ
This week in Year 4, we continued our Titanic topic with a fun and practical science investigation! ๐งช The pupils designed and built their very own boats using tinfoil, testing whether they would float or sink.
Once their boats were successfully floating, we added “passengers” (small Lego pieces) to see how much they could carry before beginning to sink. Finally, just like the Titanic, our boats “hit the iceberg” (the sides of the container!) and developed a hole in the bottom — leading to some dramatic sinkings! ๐๐ฅ
The children loved predicting what might happen, observing the results, and discussing how design and materials affect a boat’s ability to float. It was a fantastic hands-on way to explore floating and sinking, buoyancy, and fair testing — and it linked perfectly with our World Around Us topic on the Titanic! ๐ง๐ข
