Last week in Nursery we were learning about different cultures and celebrated Chinese New Year.
We read ‘The Great Race’ story and enjoyed role playing the story with all the animals.
We painted and printed colourful lanterns, coloured and decorated Chinese dragon puppet masks, painted with chopsticks and also explored painting Panda images.
We experimented with Chinese writing and symbols on lucky red envelopes and enjoyed a surprise chocolate coin inside!
During construction play the children building ‘The Great Wall of China’ and used various measuring tools to further develop their early mathematical skills.
On Friday we sampled some Chinese food and used chopsticks to eat the food. We ended the week with a dragon dance outdoors with our masks.
We enjoyed singing ‘Gung Hay Fat Choy’ together as a class this week.
