Safer Internet Day 2026

10th Feb 2026
Today we marked Safer Internet Day 2026, following a busy and exciting build-up across Omagh Integrated Primary School!
In the lead up to today:
➡ We welcomed Wayne Denner, who joined us alongside our shared education school St Ronan’s. An absolutely brilliant session - the children loved debating AI or not? 🤖
➡ PSNI Constable Inspector Susan from the Cyber Crime Unit in Belfast spoke to pupils about the Computer Misuse Act, helping them understand issues such as hacking and the misuse of information found online.
➡ REIM came into school and led workshops in the Year 1-3 classrooms, all very age appropriate. We loved hearing the Safer Internet Song being sang in all of those classrooms!
➡ Classes tuned into the BBC Live Lesson, focusing on the appropriate and safe use of AI.
➡ Every teacher led their own Safer Internet Day lesson, ensuring key messages were reinforced right across the school.
And it didn’t stop there! This evening, parents also got involved during the REIM Parent Workshop, showing that keeping children safe online is a shared responsibility between school and home.

💬 The conversation doesn’t end today - at OIPS, online safety is something we talk about and revisit all year round.
A huge thank you to all our visitors, staff, pupils and parents for making Safer Internet Day 2026 such a success 👏
