We are delighted to have been awarded the Tiny Learners Award. This award recognises our commitment as a school to support all pupils, including those who have been born pre-term. Through training, staff have a greater understanding of the challenges which children who have been born pre-term may face. Strategies have been put in place to meet the needs of these children, where needed.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to supporting children born preterm – every child is different. While some preterm children will need extra support in school, others may not. We identify each child’s unique strengths and limitations to guide selecting the most appropriate strategies to use with each individual child. Many of the strategies which are used to support children who have been born prematurely are also used routinely to support all children, dependent on their individual needs.
With the right support, every child can achieve their full potential.
